Guidelines for Parents: Your Parenting Style Matters! Podcast #3

As a parent of a teenager, do you ever wish you had rules for the road, or guidelines for "best practices?" Our plans to "do things differently" or to "never" allow certain behaviors from our teens sometimes change when facing the actual realities of raising teenagers. What can we do? How do parents know what will work and how to properly guide our teens?

There really are behaviors and guidelines that parents can employ that have been shown to support the development of teenagers. Research from the field can inform parents about our actions and provide that rule book, or framework that parents yearn for.

My co-host Joanne Greene and I discuss parenting style in this podcast, what it means and why it matters, so you can make choices about your behavior so that you are supporting the positive development of your teen.

Once you've listened to the podcast, you will want to view the report we mention that summarizes research showing that parents who are more involved and more hands-on actually have better relationships with their teenagers.
